Privacy Policy

Paths ("we", "our", "the app") is a goal accountability app built by Simon Elliott. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Data We Collect

When you use Paths, we collect the following information:

• Account information — Your name and email address, received via Sign in with Apple (Apple may provide a private relay email address if you choose to hide your email). Your email is stored for account identification only and is not displayed to other users. You choose the display name visible to friends.
• Profile photo — Optional. Uploaded by you and stored on our servers.
• Goal entries — The text you enter for your daily progress updates ("Paths").
• Encouragement messages — Emojis and text messages you send to friends.
• Friendship data — Who you connect with via invite codes and which goals you share with each friend.
• Notification preferences — Your daily reminder time and timezone.
• Device token — Used solely to deliver push notifications to your device.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data exclusively to provide the app's functionality:

• Display your progress entries to friends you have explicitly connected with
• Deliver encouragement messages between you and your friends
• Send daily reminder notifications at your chosen time
• Send poke notifications from friends

We do not use your data for advertising, analytics, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the Paths experience.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Your goal entries and encouragement messages are only visible to friends you have explicitly connected with via invite codes.

Our backend infrastructure is hosted on Supabase (which uses Amazon Web Services). Data is processed solely to operate the app.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely on Supabase servers with row-level security policies that ensure users can only access their own data and data shared through accepted friendships. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

5. Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time from Settings within the app. Account deletion permanently removes all of your data, including:

• Your profile and account information
• All goal entries
• All encouragement messages you have sent
• All friendship connections and sharing settings
• Your notification preferences and device token
• Your profile photo

Deletion is immediate and irreversible.

6. Tracking and Analytics

Paths does not track you. We do not use advertising identifiers, analytics SDKs, or any form of cross-app or cross-site tracking. We do not collect usage analytics.

7. Children's Privacy

Paths is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data (visible within the app)
• Delete your account and all associated data (in Settings)
• Control who sees your goals (per-friend sharing settings)
• Opt out of push notifications (in Settings or iOS Settings)

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you through the app. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when it was last updated.
